Committees

The Leadership of the Arkansas INBRE works closely with three committees in overseeing the key initiatives of the Arkansas INBRE to help ensure the program is meeting its objectives and goals. The key stakeholders of the Arkansas INBRE, PUI institutions and their faculty and students, guide each committee in recommendations for continuous improvement, encouragement for innovation, and adaptability.

The Steering Committee (SC) chaired by the Contact PI, the membership includes the Leadership of the INBRE, and 1 senior administrative official from each network institution.  The primary purpose of the SC is to maintain the commitment of the network institutions to the strategic goals and objectives of the Arkansas INBRE.

The Executive Committee (EC) is chaired by the Contact PI, and the membership consists of 1 faculty representative from each network institution, the Arkansas INBRE Core and DRPP Directors, and the Arkansas INBRE Program Manager, Ms. Caroline Miller-Robinson. The EC assists the PDs/PIs with overseeing Arkansas INBRE components, establishing policies, developing new initiatives, making funding decisions, and coordinating network activities. The EC meets twice annually, and is responsible for submitting a report to the External Advisory Committee following each meeting. The EC meetings are open to faculty, students, and administrators of network institutions.

The External Advisory Committee’s (EAC) prime responsibility is to monitor the scientific and programmatic progress of the Arkansas INBRE.  The Committee offers advice and guidance on scientific matters to the PI, PC and Steering Committee. The EAC reviews and approves all research proposals recommended for funding before final programmatic review by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.
