Citing INBRE

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) require that we acknowledge NIH support in books, articles, abstracts and presentations that have benefited directly through INBRE support or indirectly through the use of INBRE funded resources such as the Core facilities

  • This publication was made possible by the Arkansas INBRE program, supported by a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, (NIGMS), P20 GM103429 from the National Institutes of Health.
  • This project was supported by the Arkansas INBRE program, with a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, (NIGMS), P20 GM103429 from the National Institutes of Health.
  • (For voucher recipients) This publication was made possible by the Research Technology Core of the Arkansas INBRE program, supported by a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, (NIGMS), P20 GM103429 from the National Institutes of Health.

Please add when appropriate:

  • Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of NIH.

For abstracts, a brief citation could be:

  • Supported by a grant from NIGMS (P20 GM103429) at NIH.

When should the Arkansas INBRE be cited in publications?

If the work that is published was supported in any way by INBRE, then this support should be acknowledged. Support from the Arkansas INBRE can come in many ways. Following are examples of support through the Arkansas INBRE that may have made publication of your work possible:

  • Direct support of research by INBRE
  • Use of Research Technology Core Voucher to obtain data
  • Use of the Bioinformatics Centers at UALR &  UAMS
  • Participation in other INBRE-supported projects through its Outreach and Administrative Cores such as such as workshop attendance, travel support to conferences, or hosting a INBRE undergraduate research intern.

The rule of thumb to use in deciding whether to cite INBRE is if publication were not possible without access to one or more of these resources, or the rate at which the work was published was significantly enhanced because of access to these resources

Why is it important to cite the Arkansas INBRE?

Each year the Arkansas INBRE submits a comprehensive Annual Progress Report to NIH. Information from this progress report is used by NIH to justify continued support of the IDeA program. Publications citing NIH NIGMS support demonstrate that its resources are being used for research on human health and disease. A strong list of cited publications place Arkansas in a better position to successfully compete for future funding opportunities from the IDeA program.
