Data Science Core Workshops

Title: Arkansas INBRE Data Science Workshop 1: Introduction to Linux (even on Windows)
When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026, 2 to 4 pm CT
Where: Zoom

Register

The Arkansas INBRE Data Science Core is holding recurring monthly workshops to help students and faculty learn more about Data Science and how to implement it in their own work. For this first workshop, we’re going to start at the beginning and give an introduction to Linux, particularly for Windows users. Before diving into topics like programming languages (R and Python) or applications like machine learning, a basic working knowledge of the Linux command line is absolutely essential for anyone interested in Data Science, whether you’re doing your work on a computing cluster or HPC, a local machine or in the cloud… and the good news is that you can use it right from your regular desktop, including Windows and MacOS. We‘ve set up a GitHub page for discussion and will upload resources there which you can view beforehand, but we can also guide you when you attend online.

If you have any questions, please email the organizers.
